Facilities

The Monash Biomedical Imaging (MBI) facilities are a Monash University led consortium of hospitals and research organisations that facilitate and accommodate interdisciplinary and multi-modal (PET, SPECT, x-ray, CT and MRI) imaging research. This includes pre-clinical and clinical collaborations among world-class experts in medicine, science and engineering, in concert with industry and government, to create innovative solutions to clinical health challenges.

MBI clinical research facilities

  • Neuromotor laboratory (located at MBI, 770 Blackburn Rd, Clayton VIC) - Established in November 2011.

  • Neuropsychology and behavioural testing (located at MBI, 770 Blackburn Rd, Clayton VIC) - Established in February 2012.

  • Electroencephalography (EEG) (located at MBI, 770 Blackburn Rd, Clayton VIC) - Established in March, 2012. For use in the 3T MR scanner or EEG laboratory.

  • Ocular motor setup (located at MBI, 770 Blackburn Rd, Clayton VIC) - Established in March, 2012 for use either in the 3T MR scanner or Ocular Motor laboratory.

  • Mock MRI (located at MBI, 770 Blackburn Rd, Clayton VIC) - Established in July 2012.

  • Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) (located at MBI, 770 Blackburn Rd, Clayton VIC) - available for use either in the 3T MR scanner or TMS laboratory from November, 2012.

Cancellation policy (applies to all MBI scanners)

Researchers should endeavour to give maximum possible notice of cancellations out of consideration for other researchers and to ensure other researchers can use the facility. Primary investigators are responsible for ensuring that participants arrive on time for their scheduled scans.

In the event of a cancellation, the following charges will apply:

  • Greater than 5 working days (121 hours) notice - no charge
  • Less than 5 working days (121 hours) notice - 25% charge
  • Less than 2 working day (48 hours) notice - 100% charge

Written notice of cancellation must be sent to admin.mbi@monash.edu.

Auditorium (located off Foyer - 770 Blackburn Road)

  • Has large screen, projector, computer, DVD player and audio system.
  • Capacity of 400 people, foyer can be used for catering.
  • Small cost of $500 / day.
